MARCHING FOR FREEDOM IN MANDALAY DIVISION
| T |
his video footage was broadcast by Democratic Voice of Burma on November 21, 2007. It shows a freedom march which took place in Kyaukpadaung, Mandalay Division on September 18, 2007.
It is hoped that this footage will help people to understand the strong relationship and bond between the people and the monks, who assumed moral leadership of the movement when most democracy activists were arrested or driven into hiding in August. The townspeople show their respect and gratitude for the monks' courage in a particularly humble manner, especially in the second half.

Our way of saying "thanks" in the Thai way. Here a nak muay Thai (kickboxer) offers respect and thanks for his teacher (wai khru) before a match. This is our local variation on the ubiquitous "hat tip" used in general blog culture.
