THAILAND CELEBRATES (update 2)
A

s promised yesterday, more video of Thailand's phenomenal celebrations for His Majesty's 80th birthday. This post will be updated as I get the videos uploaded.

First up is highlights of the fireworks display on Tuesday evening.

On the morning of December 5, HM the King travelled to the Grand Palace for an unprecedented tribute in front of the Chakri Maha Prasart Throne Hall, built during the reign of King Chulalongkorn, (Rama V). The entire four kilometre route from Chitralada Palace was filled with his admirers cheering with "Song Pra Jarern!" ("Long Live the King!"). This was the first time the Chakri Maha Prasart Throne Hall has been used in this way. The Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn, and Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont pay a tribute (speeches not included) after the playing of San Rasern Pra Baramee, the King's Anthem. Part 1.

Another round of San Rasern Pra Baramee (I love that song), and His Majesty gives a short address to his people (this was broadcast live across the country). The lack of sound at the end is due to another capture glitch, missing the cries of "Song Pra Jarern!" as he left the balcony. Part 2.
