BANGKOK DECORATED, A KING'S DUTY, AND A GRAND FINALE (update 2)
H

ere are the last of my videos recorded on December 4 and 5.

First up is a series showing the royal cavalcade leaving the Dec. 5 morning event at Chakri Maha Prasart Throne Hall at the Grand Palace, in order to show some of the elaborate arches and decorations gracing Bangkok for this occasion. Followed by some night scenes of the spectacular displays.

On the afternoon of Dec. 5, HM King Bhumipol and HM Queen Sirikit again travel the loving people-lined streets, to the Grand Palace for a religious ceremony with 81 monks. They return to Chitralada Palace through a night-time wonderland, as a grand display of devotion is readied on the expanse of Sanam Luang (as the English say, "Royal Pramane Grounds).

Thankfully, HM could relax after that long ceremony at the temple -- and watch this grand display of his people's love, on his television. Sanam Luang is at the heart of historic Krung Thep (Bangkok), here with the Grand Palace in view. He had already been there twice that day. Time to relax with Thong Dang and the best view of the event... more duties tomorrow.
